Estil Taylor

Mr. Estil Taylor was recently thanked by The Northeastern Indiana Trout Association with the presentation of a plaque.

It reads; Northeastern Indiana Trout Association awards Mr. Estil Taylor for Outstanding Achievement and Tireless Effort to Preserve and Further Trout Fishing in Hoosierland.

Estil is one of the original founders of NEITA and recalled how members used to pack the courthouse in Kendallville back in the early 1950s when NEITA had 3000 members.

Over the many years he has held various officer positions and served on the Board of Directors for many years.

His first trout fishing trip was to Clock Creek South of Rome City. He had a secret stream that fed into Clock Creek that he used to crawl up to on his belly. There was so much underbrush that he’d take apart his fly rod and only use the top section.

His favorite section of the Pigeon River to trout fish was at the County Line Bridge, with The Rock Dam holding a close second!

Estil has been active as late as 2000, when he participated in the historic first stocking of Oliver Lake with Brown Trout.
